..............turns out they do taste like chicken
Starring in order of egg laying performance........Barclay, Sassafras, ByJingo, Pooh, Slipper (not pictured), and Manjula ( our nephew named this one after the Simpsons' character Apu's wife whose last name is at least 57 letters long and I can't remember right now.)
The chickens are pretty funny. They run around the yard complaining for most of the day, relaxing occasionally on a roost to save up enough energy for some more fussing later. The eggs are great and they have zero added chemicals or hormones or pesticides or whatever else they feed the poor hens at the big chicken/egg factories.

When the rooster puts his head down, wings back and bounces like a crazed teenager (see picture) somebody is about to learn about the pecking order first hand.
We are currently looking for a "replacement" rooster.
